Beyond the Curb - Helpful Hints

Five Good Reasons to Recycle:
- Recycling conserves our valuable natural resources.
- Recycling saves energy.
- Recycling promotes clean air and water.
- Recycling saves landfill space.
- Recycling can save money and create jobs.

Did you Know?

Each ton of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4,000 kilowatts of energy and 7,000 gallons of water.

Americans use more than 67 million tons of paper per year, or about 580 pounds per person per year.

Making recycled paper instead of new paper uses 64 percent less energy and uses 58 percent less water.

Every day Americans businesses generate enough paper to circle the earth 20 times.

Recycled CardboardShown here is over 75,000 pounds of recycled paper that is shipped within days of being collected to a processing plant in either Taiwan, Japan, Korea, or China for processing and reuse. That's right, what we used to call trash is now taking long journeys to be made into new recycled products.

Recycling Collection TruckHere is one of our recycle collection trucks emptying it's load so we can process and bale it.

BottlesHere you see bales of various types of plastics, tin, and aluminum all ready for transport for reuse and reprocessing.
